What is the Action Kids Centre of Excellence (A.C.E.) Active Learning Journey?

An accredited Action Kids Centre of Excellence Active Learning Journey supports your early years provision through music, movement, games and imaginative play, by providing an exciting, inspiring and fun environment for children and staff. The innovative Action Kids Centre of Excellence (A.C.E.) approach offers a dynamic, certificated training programme, which promises to enhance your whole setting.

Staff development:

With an ongoing staff training, development & support programme; our core focus is on you, your staff and your children. Your staff will be trained to an exceptional standard and encouraged to be pro-active, motivated, thoughtful, better communicators, inspiring and approachable. As an Action Kids Practitioner, they will understand the key areas of a child’s physical development and will be fully qualified to deliver the Action Kids movement play activities. In addition, they will develop the necessary skills to observe and assess each child’s progress ensuring they provide appropriate levels of challenge and create a real sense of achievement for both themselves and the children in their care.

Developing all your children (0-7yrs):

Action Kids activities access all six areas of learning and development in the EYFS guidance and are fully inclusive, educational and fun. A.C.E. can encourage a wealth of opportunities to help root the foundations from which children flourish and begin to realise their own potential. Action Kids is physical activity based and naturally opens up opportunities for learning. It provides children with feelings of success and achievement from the outset, whilst broadening their experiences and skills. Action Kids encourage each child’s power to think, feel, do, know, understand, represent and express whilst promoting care and respect for themselves, each other and the environment around them. Through daily Action Kids activities, children develop their speaking and listening skills, extend their vocabulary, converse and increase their non-verbal communication skills. As with all Val Sabin’s programmes, each activity has been carefully designed to include exercises for essential brain stimulation, to enhance the efficiency of the cerebellar-vestibular system.

"The Action Kids programme is an excellent way for children to exercise both body and mind, learn about values, the world & develop their physical, creative, social and emotional capabilities in a fun and friendly environment."

Neil Bangs, Senior Lecturer, Middlesex University for Academic Superstars.

"The children can't wait to do Action Kids and they are always a lot calmer after they have done the activities. There is always someone singing a song from Action Kids even when we are not doing it. It is a great learning experience for our children and staff".

Zoe Holmes, Manger of Apple Tree Day Nursery (Action Kids Centre of Excellence), Halifax, West Yorkshire.

What is an Action Kids Foundation Centre of Excellence?

Apple Day Nursery

An accredited Action Kids Foundation Centre of Excellence (A.C.E.) provides experienced, well trained staff who use Action Kids activities to deliver the Early Years Foundation Stage Curriculum. The comprehensive Action Kids movement play programmes fit into the six areas of learning and development in the EYFS guidance and are fully inclusive, educational and fun.

Through music, movement, games, creative storytelling and imaginative play, children develop their physical, creative, social and emotional capabilities in a fun and friendly environment. They also develop a knowledge and understanding of the world, experience and develop communication language and literacy, and practise their problem solving reasoning and numeracy.

"The children just love to do the Giants and Fairies. They can't wait to do Action Kids and they are always a lot calmer after they have done the activities. There is always someone singing a song from Action Kids even when we are not doing it. It is a great learning experience for our children.

Our nursery is very happy with the results and benefits from the Action Kids Centre of Excellence programme. We feel it has complemented the routine and structure of the day. Action Kids is a credit to Apple Tree and we would highly recommend it to all nurseries."

Zoe Holmes, Manger Apple Tree Day Nursery.

What are the advantages of becoming an Action Kids Foundation Centre of Excellence (A.C.E.)?

Apple Day Nursery

Action Kids activities access, directly or indirectly, over 90% of all the Early Learning Goals for the Government's EYFS Curriculum, encouraging children to become confident, capable and creative learners through an emphasis on relevant and motivating activities that are fun to do. Becoming an Action Kids Foundation Centre of Excellence will ensure your setting gains the essential knowledge and experience required to deliver the sessions. It will enable you to deliver Action Kids in a flexible way to suit your environment, reaching all the children as frequently as possible for maximum benefit. Action Kids can be tailored to suit any setting e.g. small or large spaces, small or large groups, indoor or outdoor, carpet time, anytime!

How do we become an Action Kids Foundation Centre of Excellence (A.C.E.)?

In order to achieve the A.C.E. status, the first stage is for at least two members of staff to become Action Kids Practitioners by attending the initial 2 day training course. The 'Core Training' on Day 1 covers all the principles and teaches the fundamental concepts of Action Kids, focusing on Early Years physical progression and development. The 'Session Plan Training' on Day 2 focuses on the weekly session plans for the following term. During the first year, 2 further 'Session Plan Training' days must be attended to complete the initial training programme.

In year 2 (and subsequent years) one 'Annual Training' day must be attended each year to retain your A.C.E. accreditation and an optional training/refresher day is also available.

In addition, for a monthly membership subscription your setting will become a member of the Action Kids Foundation and will receive:
